Forestry - Christmas Trees

Christmas Trees are grown and treated as a crop. From the planting of a seedling to several years later harvesting a mature tree constant care is required. Greensward is able to provide the machines and skills required throughout Grampian, Moray and the Highlands of Scotland.

Complete desiccation of green cover prior to planting, control of weeds during planting and application of fungicides and insecticides where necessary. Specially built machinery is used to work among young trees to prune and shape them.

A recent addition to the machinery fleet is a twin cannon blast sprayer, built onto a Unimog chassis. The blast sprayer which was orginally used to spray maize crops in Europe and America has been adapted to apply chemical either on to the christmas trees or when necessary onto weeds such as thistles. This system is giving improved chemical penetration, allowing for a much reduced usage of chemical ingredient.

The season ends with our staff harvesting and loading the trees for despatch all over the UK and EU.
